How do I get started- If you have an IEP with the public school and have been in public school in Florida for one year-  You may qualify for a scholarship.

You need to be registered ASAP for McKay scholarship.

If you are currently using McKay Funds at another private school- You can easily switch to our school. However spaces are limited it is advised to make the switch as soon as possible.

New learning technology gives us the ability to monitor and teach learning & attention skills. This allows us to provide healthy treatment alternatives that can enhance confidence and optimize attention, memory & learning skills for school and in life.

A child’s academic struggle can be due to malfunctions in the learning process that are deeper than what other programs/tutors can correct. Our educational specialists actually uncover what is going wrong with the learning process in the brain and then they correct it. Our programs are founded in educational cognitive psychology to provide the correct environment and challenge to facilitate a change in how the brain functions in learning and life. This allows them to overcome attentional and learning disorders.

We will improve the overall function of the brains capacity to learn for the rest of their life. Our methods have been carefully developed to deliver superior care and heightened learning opportunities for each child we serve. To that end, our services complement the goals of our program by teaching students though real world experiences and strategies that are essential to physical, cognitive and psychological growth.

Our goal is more than to get passing grades or to “fill in gaps” in learning a certain subject. Our techniques actually repair the learning process and increase your child’s brain power ability to learn. Our supportive assessments and intervention facilitate permanent changes how the brain learns and interprets new information.

The Dynamic Listening System (DLS)Tomatis, is the first digital signal processing system to be designed for Tomatis-based auditory training. Beautiful Mozart music and soothing Gregorian chant flow from the state-of-the-art DLS equipment through the high quality Tomatis headphones used by the listener. This increases the capacity to learn by improving how the brain is functioning.

The Lexia family of products improve the student's reading skills through a phonics based, multi-sensory approach. Based on the widely publicized Orton-Gillingham method, Lexia uses a combination of sound, images, and software-based manipulatives. Research has shown that the earlier children with potential reading difficulties can be identified, the easier it is to overcome the reading problems.

 ◄Phonics Based Reading is for children ages 5 to 8. Phonics Based Reading provides hundreds of exercises for practice in phonemic awareness, sound-symbol correspondence, word attack skills, and early comprehension skills, while introducing nearly 2,000 vocabulary words.

◄Lexia Reading S.O.S. is a reading skills development system designed especially for older students, ages 9 through adult, presented in a mature interface. ABA-Applied Behavior Analysis is the design, implementation, and evaluation of environmental modifications to produce socially significant improvement in human behavior.  ABA includes the use of direct observation, measurement, and functional analysis of the relations between environment and behavior. ABA uses these principles to set up an environment in which our kids learn as much as they can as quickly as possible. It may seem odd to use the word "behavior" when talking about learning to talk, play, and function in the educational environment, but to a behaviorist all these can be taught, so long as there are intact brain functions to learn

Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program (LiPS)™ on a one to one basis. Lindamood-Bell programs are internationally recognized as one of the most effective methods for developing literacy skills. The LiPS® Program successfully stimulates phonemic awareness. The SCAN C/ Scan A will allow us to identify children who have auditory processing disorders and who may benefit from intervention. They should be used when children have normal hearing acuity but who appear to have poor listening skills, short auditory attention span, or difficulty understanding speech. - Given to all IHA students upon request

The Dyslexia Screener: The Dyslexia Screener (TDS) is a direct diagnostic method based on the Boder Reading /Spelling test and the Dyslexia Determination test (DDT). The test evaluates the decoding and encoding of words. Testing will distinguish between the three basic types of dyslexia as well as providing a severity index. Frye Diagnostic Test- An extensive diagnostic with five separate evaluations to determine instructional reading grade, comprehension grade level, spelling level, instructional language level, short term memory test Given to all IHA students upon request

Captain's Log® DOS is the most widely used, comprehensive set of computerized cognitive training/testing program ever published. This program pinpoints barriers in the learning process. We sort the testing data three different ways by module, by educational skill and by cognitive task. IVA (Integrated Visual and Auditory Continuous Performance Test) is a comprehensive computerized test of attention, visual and auditory processing speed, and self control used by health professionals in identifying and diagnosing attention related difficulties. Home School Support Services

A+ Academy offers expertise in home schooling special needs children. We realize that home schooling often requires more than a textbook to teach from. The Play N Learn store will offer multi sensory teaching items and home school curriculum. Because our staff also interact with the curriculum sold in the store, we can provide a better sense of what you might need to be successful then a regular curriculum store does.

We assist Parents with any or all of the following:

Administering diagnostic evaluations for placement in the core subjects
Reviewing results of the evaluation
Assessing which curriculum is best for students learning style
Making recommendations regarding placement in that curriculum
Providing online or printed curriculum
Academic assistance to ensure the students success
Creating timely reports
